Forvis Mazars | Key Messaging Drives Widespread Media Coverage for New Global Accounting Network

Challenge

In 2022, Pierpont was engaged to assist with the merger of equals between BKD and DHG, two midsize accounting firms, to create FORVIS, a top 10 accounting firm. One year after this industry-changing merger, Pierpont was challenged with a similar task: announcing the launch of Forvis Mazars, a new global network formed by FORVIS and Mazars, in a media market dominated by the big four accounting firms. 

Objectives

Our primary objectives were to strategically announce the launch of the new global network, elevate the profile of Tom Watson, Forvis Mazars CEO, as well as senior and regional thought leaders within the firm and achieve widespread media coverage reinforcing key messaging surrounding the global partner network across local, industry, and national outlets. 

Solution

To address these objectives, we developed a comprehensive subject matter expert program, identifying and leveraging thought leaders across the firm for media interviews after conducting specialized media training. We also focused on elevating the CEO’s profile through industry press and desk side briefings with national media, including the Wall Street Journal and Financial Times.

Results

Pierpont helped secure an exclusive interview with the Wall Street Journal to provide high-profile exposure. Additionally, we placed 53 total articles. 35 of these articles were placed in Forvis Mazars markets throughout the U.S.   

The earned media coverage effectively announced the new global network, enhancing the firm's visibility and reputation and elevated the profile of the CEO.
