Morabito, Hemeyer Present at PR Day

Pierpont CEO Phil Morabito and Executive Counsel Terry Hemeyer presented to public relations and communications professionals on agency life and leadership skills during the recent PRSA Houston PR Day Conference.

Morabito’s presentation shed light on what it is like to work for and run a public relations agency. He shared the story of his entrepreneurial journey, beginning his career at a prestigious Madison Avenue public relations firm in New York City to founding Pierpont Communications in Houston. When describing what agency life is like, Morabito said, “Everyday is like an adventure. No two days are the same.”

During his presentation on critical leadership skills for communicators, Hemeyer shared how to recognize good leadership attributes in others, develop the skills needed throughout a career, and motivate one another to be successful. He emphasized the importance of having discipline and the guts to fail fast. “A good leader cannot make everybody happy, but they understand that people are still the key to business,” Hemeyer explained.

PR Day is an annual gathering of public relations and communications professionals, hosted by PRSA Houston. Morabito and Hemeyer were joined by several Pierpont representatives at PR Day, some of which serve in leadership roles for PRSA across various chapters in Texas. Pierpont participated in this year’s event as an exhibiting sponsor.
