Dave Stump to Help GirlStart Expand into Houston Market
Pierpont’s Vice President of Business Development, Dave Stump, was recently appointed as the Council Chair for GirlStart’s expansion into the Houston market.
After years of growth and success in Central Texas, GirlStart – a STEM-based after-school and summer camp program for girls in fourth through eighth grade – saw huge opportunity for broad-scale replication in the welcoming Houston community.
GirlStart’s mission to increase girls’ interest and engagement in STEM is what first inspired Stump to get involved. With two daughters who always loved STEM subjects, he understands how important it is to provide opportunities for young women to learn and grow in this space.
“I wanted to participate in an organization like GirlStart that does a great job of providing exposure for young women, who may not have previously had the opportunity to give STEM subjects a chance,” said Stump.
As the Council Chair for Houston, Stump will help spread the word about GirlStart in Houston and support organizations that want to grow their commitment to STEM education by joining the GirlStart network.
In addition to Stump’s involvement in Houston, Pierpont has been an active supporter of GirlStart in the Austin area for years. Austin General Manager and Senior Vice President Stacy Armijo has served as an adviser with the organization’s Global STEM Network, as well as provided marketing and messaging support.
