Job Opening: Account Supervisor

Basic Function: Independent management of accounts and staff. Participate in new business efforts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Account Management:

  • Responsible for supervision and retention of assigned business base.

  • Supervise the various communications activities of client programs within a designated account team(s), on time and within designated budget.

  • Works on and supervises a range of activities within multiple accounts, including research needs, writing, strategic planning, and budgeting.

  • Supervises preparation of monthly activity reports.

  • Responsible for staff allocation of client work.

  • Supervises team members.

Client Services:

  • Takes responsibility for regular client contact, ensuring that the client is satisfied with relevant account activity.

  • Responsible for interpretation and resolution of client needs and problems where applicable.

  • Maintain regular client contact, ensuring that client is updated and briefed on all relevant account activity.

  • Identifies opportunities for further account expansion/development.

  • Ensures quality standards are met in servicing the client, including presentation of all work product.

  • Creates and directs implementation for client programs.

Staff/Self Management:

  • Works effectively with account team, including project supervision of subordinates and others assigned and acts as a liaison with Vice President/Senior Vice President level.

  • Projects personal characteristics of positive attitude, professional appearance, solid communication skills, initiative, and ability to work as part of a team environment.

  • Thinks creatively and strategically on all account assignments.

  • Manages time effectively, meets deadlines, pays attention to detail, and sets priorities for all assignments.

Financial Management:

  • Works with VP/SVP to approve budgets, client programs and invoices for all accounts.

  • Responsible for account profitability.

  • Oversees monthly and/or weekly budget status reports as part of budget tracking process where appropriate.

New Business:

  • Participates in preparing new business proposals for new and existing clients.

  • Works within firm’s new business system.

  • Research and preparation of new business proposals for new and existing clients and participants in presentations.

  • Identifies incremental business opportunities on current accounts and new business opportunities with new prospects.

Firm Promotion:

  • Promotes the firm as appropriate, including identification of relevant outlets to publicize/promote current accounts and activities.

Staff Development:

  • Participates in training, skill development of subordinates.

  • Mentors subordinates.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent writing, verbal, editing and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate capability in delegating assignments, supervising others, receiving cooperation from other departments/offices.

  • Broad knowledge of agency resources.

  • Knowledge of general business practices.

  • Specialized industry knowledge plus specialized skills in media relations, marketing, social media, etc. Excellent writing skills are a non-negotiable point.

  • Range of non-quantifiable talents including judgment, enthusiasm, sales ability, and people skills.
