Promotional events are a great way for organizations to connect to their client and prospect base. As the promotions coordinator for a
radio station, I’ve managed the set-up activities for several of their promotional events. Based on my experience, here are five useful tips to help make your next event successful.
Be interactive. Energize your event by offering interactive games through which visitors can compete for prizes. These can be as simple as rolling dice or spinning a wheel to win promotional items.
Be prepared. Sometimes being at an event is similar to being stranded on an island – the more prepared you are, the more likely you are to survive – so prepare for everything. I suggest packing a box with useful things such as duct tape, a first aid kit, rain jackets and pens to take to all events. You never know what you may need….
Everyone loves free stuff. But remember: promotional material is only successful if the customer will actually use it. Pass out things that are useful and will be used by the consumer for a long time, such as, lighters, pens, hats and calendars.
Snap some pictures. Pictures are a great way to show that your event was a success – especially when you share them correctly. Upload pictures to a company blog and post them on your social media networks. Include them in your next company newsletter or eblast. This will also help drive traffic to your company’s site.
Rinse and repeat. If it worked well the first time, it will probably work again. So, make sure to note what was successful, and do it again for future events.
Events can build relationships and enhance company image, but only if done correctly! What tips do you have? Share them with us below!
